If you are going to be in the Boston area on the 6th, 7th and 8th (or just feel like hopping on a plane to meet some awesome people) then you should head down to Waltham, where the Steampunk International City is being held. It’s going to be a city wide festival, that means that registered guests will have access to events, food and tomfoolery all over Waltham. And the best part- it’s only $20 for the entire weekend! Can you tell I am excited for this event? It’s going to be fantastic fun! I hope to see some of you there, let me know if you’re going!
At this year’s New York International Auto Show, Porsche showed off their brand new Panamara Hybrid, but they also brought along a hybrid of theirs that’s a bit older. As in 111 years older. The Lohner-Porsche Semper Vivus uses a small gas-powered motor to charge up electric hubs on the wheels.
None of the original Lohner-Porsche versions are still around, so this replica was painstakingly recreated over the last seven years. They didn’t even have the original drawings, so they had to work from a handful of photographs along with some written descriptions.
