The oldest car manufacturer in Britain, the Daimler company received patronage from the Crown, as well as the courts of Spain and Prussia. The Prince of Wales (later Edward VII) received a ride in one of the earliest production automobiles, in 1897.
DaimlerChrysler (owned by Ford) de-merged back in 2007, and the Daimler name is still used on Jaguar cars.
