Dandy

My friend today somehow mentioned dandys and I thought, why I not make a post about it in here, because I like’em.They’re style and that snobish attitude.

A dandy  (also known as a beau or gallant ) is a man who places particular importance upon physical appearance, refined language, and leisurely hobbies, pursued with the appearance of nonchalance in a cult of Self.Historically, especially in late 18th- and early 19th-century Britain, a dandy, who was self-made, often strove to imitate an aristocratic style of life despite coming from a middle-class background.

In History have been many famous dandy’s:

   > The first dandy in the world - Beau Brummel

   > George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron

   > Oscar Wilde

   > H.H. Munro

   > Spanish artist Salvador Dali

   > Carlo Bugatti

 ->At the end of the 19th century, American dandies were called DUDES. Evander Berry Wall was nicknamed the “King of the Dudes”.LOL

 ->George Walden, in the essay Who’s a Dandy?, identifies Noël Coward, Andy Warhol, and Quentin Crisp as modern dandies.

 ->The artist Sebastian Horsley described himself as a “dandy in the underworld” in his eponymous autobiography
