“This setting of Psalm 121 uses a genre peculiar to the Anglican musical tradition, rather like fauxbourdon: the text is chanted to a chord progression. The effect is curiously calming and meditative. This is the only one of these chants that I have ever composed, and may well be the last, but it was an interesting experiment. I added dynamic indications to each verse of the psalm, which is not common. This is performed by the Choir of All Saints’ Church, Beverly Hills, with Craig Phillips, organ, and conducted by Dale Adelmann.
