The 1940’s was a great era for fashion and glamour, as well as a strict gender biased code which dictated that the model wife was expected to effortlessly fill the roles of mother, glamour girl, cook, laundress, cleaner, dishwasher, nurse and finally, hostess.
LIFE magazine did a “fashion” spread, with charming photographs, paired with the exhausting schedule that was, ”A Day in the Life of a 1940’s Housewife.” 1st in Series:
