Signs of Conflict

There is an amazing new online database of posters from Lebanon’s long civil war dating between 1975 and 1991. It represents work from all the involved political parties and covers a spectrum of topics ranging from martyrdom, nationalism, commemoration, foreign intervention, allegiance, power and politics… This is the culmination of many years of work of a professor I had the pleasure of studying with under during my years at the American University of Beirut… Zeina Maasri. Enjoy browsing! For those not interested in the political aspect of the collection, it does offer an amazing collection of Arabic design and typography from the recent past.
