Greta Garbo, in my favorite of her dresses from the film Romance, 1930.  It was for this film that she was nominated for her first Oscar— one of two nominations in the same year; for Romance and Anna Christie, respectively. Unfortunately, the award went to Norma Shearer for The Divorcee. Did Norma deserve the award over 2 Garbo performances? I don’t feel she did, but I’m slightly biased.
