Q. Why is your Tumblelog called "My Ear-Trumpet Has Been Struck by Lightning"?
A. Because "My Grandmother's Ear-Trumpet Has Been Struck by Lightning" wouldn't fit in the available space.
The sheep images of my last post came from a book with a hilarious title page. It turns out that the sheep book was only one of a series on farm animals, and that they all had hilarious title pages.
My favorite line, and perhaps a new motto:
“What this country needs is less hog and hominy and more chicken and celery.”

From Jacob Biggle’s fabulously named Biggle Sheep Book: Something Practical About Sheep (All Wool and a Yard Wide Mutton Chops Cooked to Suit the Taste of the Most Fastidious)
There are a few more words of advice towards the bottom of the cover page, too:“There is no use in keeping sheep if you have no time to bother with them.”
Truth.
