Mrs. Hudson has been roused, she retorted on me, and I on you.
Then Watson’s like ‘what is it, a fire?’, which is hilarious considering Holmes really took his time waking him up. But I guess fire might be a common occurrence at 221B what with all the cigarettes thrown everywhere.
The original text in “The Speckled Band” was ““Very sorry to knock you up, Watson, but it’s the common lot this morning. Mrs. Hudson has been knocked up, she retorted upon me, and I on you.”
“What is it, then? A fire?”
“No, a client…Now, when young ladies wander about the metropolis at this hour of the morning, and knock sleepy people up out of their beds, I presume that it is something very pressing which they have to communicate.”
Knocking someone up had a different meaning then, obviously.
Then again, “roused” isn’t much better.
Mrs. Hudson has been roused, she retorted on me, and I on you.

Jeremy as Watson in The Crucifer of Blood
You all knew that Jeremy Brett once played Dr. John H. Watson complete with army doctor moustache, yes? Charlton Heston starred as Holmes.
(via notwiselybuttoowell)
Nursery wallpaper. The fact that it’s Jeremy against an Edward Gorey set basically makes this the best thing ever.
This is perfect.

Good god I’m seriously falling in love with Jeremy Brett’s Sherlock. He’s more manic and explosive than Ben’s haha
His Last Bow 1917
Publicity shot of Jeremy Brett and Edward Hardwicke for an unfinished episode of Granada’s series.
Edit for clarity: This was intially filmed for inclusion in “The Second Stain”( Sherlock reminiscing). Producers thought an entire episode could be created from it and shelved the scene for later use. No episode was ever made, the scenes were never made public and the film was destroyed.
yes good
i love brett’s holmes so much
The Adventures of the Hanged Ma- IS THAT A PHEASANT

Seriously. I love Benedict and I’m’a let him finish but Jeremy Brett was the best Sherlock Holmes of all time.
