Illustrations and cover art for Maître du monde (Master of the World)

Master of the World is a dark science-fiction novel by Jules Verne, written in 1904. It was written during a bleak period near the end of Verne’s life, when his health was failing, and his outlook on the world was distinctly more cynical and dark than his earlier, brighter novels.
