Russian Red Army Choir - Song of the Volga Boatmen (1965).

The Song of the Volga Boatmen is a well-known traditional Russian song collected by Mily Balakirev, and published in his book of folk songs. It is a genuine barge-haulers’ shanty.

Vasya-Vasilyok - The Red Army Choir feat. Babayev, Pankov. 1942.

A story of two friends. One of them is a sad balloon because his girlfriend maybe broke up with him. The other tries to cheer him up with the following useful advice:

DO NOT LET SADNESS OVERTAKE YOU, SOLDIERS ARE NOT SAD. DO NOT BE DEPRESSED. EVEN IF YOU HAVE A REASON. DO NOT BE DEPRESSED. NEVER BE DEPRESSED.

I wish I had a huge troupe of happy Russian soldiers to sing to me when I was sad.
