While loads of Pulp, comic strip and comic book characters had films almost none of the old penny dreadful, weekly nickels or dime novel characters did. Even in the silent era which those things were still being published. No filmed adventures of Nick Carter (though a made for TV film based on that character staring Robert Conrad  did show up a year or two after The Wild, Wild West went off) The Brady’s, Young Wild West (though the character is mentioned by Bogart as Sam Spade in The Maltese Falcon), Sexton Blake, or The Liberty Boy of `76.

Well, as you can see above, there was one it seems. I don’t thing it was a big success however.
