The girl on the far left in the black dress is my great-great grandmother, Franziska, or “Fränze”. She wrote poetry and ended up marrying a poet as well, Rudolph Paulsen. They met through their fathers, who were both pedagogues and founded schools in Germany. Franziska inherited her name from her grandmother, and also passed it down to my grandmother, who passed it down to me.
